Greg's practice involves all areas of intellectual property law including disputes concerning patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights. He operates his practice out of an Atlanta office and an Athens, GA office.  Greg's patent practice includes the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Greg counsels clients and renders opinions concerning the infringement/non-infringement of issued patents, the validity/invalidity of issued patents, and the design of products and processes to avoid potential patent infringement assertions. As the chief intellectual property officer of LAVA Group, Inc., Greg has also been involved in the strategic development of portfolios for licensing, assertion and sale.

Experience

Greg's patent prosecution experience includes a wide range of electrical, software/intent and mechanical technologies and business method–related patents. A sampling of Greg's experience includes paging and handheld devices and related software, software as a service (and other hosted) applications, firewall/security software and devices, software teleconferencing technologies, voice over internet protocol (VOIP) technologies, various client/server applications, audio/video devices, WAN/LAN/RF and digital systems for cellular telephones, analog and digital circuits, optical networking, cellular communications, GPS systems and other digital technologies.

Prior to co-founding the law firm, Greg held the position of partner of Troutman Sanders LLP, a 600-attorney firm headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Prior to Troutman Sanders, Greg was associated with Jones & Askew, LLP, a patent boutique firm in Atlanta, Georgia.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Greg held various positions as an engineer over a 13-year career. As an engineer, Greg worked with the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, Georgia Technology Research Institute and Panasonic Corporation. Most notably, while at Panasonic, Greg led the software development team for the delivery of several cellular telephone products to the market.
