Mike's practice involves all areas of intellectual property law including disputes concerning patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights. Mike's patent practice includes the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the electrical and electro-mechanical arts. Mike counsels clients and renders opinions concerning the infringement/non-infringement of issued patents, the validity/invalidity of issued patents, and the design of products and processes to avoid potential patent infringement assertions.

Experience

Mike's patent prosecution experience includes a wide range of electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies.

Mike's electrical experience includes modems, DSL transceivers, semiconductor device fabrication and processing, radio frequency (RF) and digital systems for cellular telephones, analog and digital circuits including automated test equipment, antenna systems, application–specific integrated circuits, integrated circuit fabrication techniques and devices, opto-electronic devices including light emitting devices and photodetectors, optical networking, telecommunications systems including cellular communications, GPS systems, and other RF and digital technologies, and ultrasound imaging systems. Mike's electro-mechanical experience includes ultrasound transducers, including single element and single- and multi-dimensional array transducers.

Prior to joining the law firm, Mike was a partner at Needle & Rosenberg and Thomas, Kayden, Horstemeyer & Risley. Mike's previous work experience includes nearly 11 years as an electrical engineer and product manager with Singer-Kearfott Corporation and AT&T Corporation. Mike's engineering career included design, procurement and installation of earth station satellite communications equipment, C and Ku band radio frequency (RF) and digital communications equipment, and quality assurance oversight of a variety of military defense and communications systems.
